Water Cooled Turbo?

Tom, I'm in the market for a turbo after I take my wife to hawaii (gotta do whatcha gotta do to get what you want, right?). Was looking at a Vortech, but after your video, of the turbo svt, I like your kit all of a sudden lol. My question is, do you have a air to water intercooler for your turbo? the average temp here in phx is 105-115 during the summer, and you lose a shitload of boost in that environment. In fact, my old mustang with a non intercooled vortech measured 175 degree intake temps here!! If you don't have one, I may have to go vortech cuz they have the "power cooler."

P.S. was your turbo svt stock engine? That thing [:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)][:)]' flew!

Keep in mind that a air to water is cooled by that 105 to 115 water , it is a bad misconseption that air to water coolers cool better but in fact there cooled by the same temp that a air to air is

I would say install the turbo and a water meth kit , this would cool the charge better than anything

Thanks for the reply, Tom. But having some sort of cooler is must, right? I saw your non-intercooled kit, which is affordable. But I know turbos run hotter than superchargers, due to exhaust gasses running the turbine, with combination of engine bay heat. i just wanna make sure my car doesn't lose too much boost during the summers here. I lost about 4lbs of boost during the summer in my mustang.

I have done both on the Focus Turbo and SC and i cannot say that the turbo runs hotter intake temp

No with the water meth for your temp i would geuss it would work as good maybe better . I would install 2 nozzles one at the turbo one at the TB and i thing that would work very well with the STG1 kit or the full kit and the air to air and a water meth

Oh, you can use a meth injection without an intercooler? how much does that cost? If I can just get the stage 1 kit with meth injection for a lot less that intercooler, that would be the way to go!

Keep in mind that the STG1 is still limited in HP because of no cooler but still out HP/TQ any SC on the market

I just want to add Tom, that the "power cooler" with the vortech kit allows you to dump ice water in the tank. Big mouth on it for ice!

True, but where you live the ice won't last long......

Yes but then the small power cooler raidiator would then act like a cool exchanger, I would say the ice would last about 3 to 5 Min in 90Deg temp if that long

Where water Meth 40/60 would help a lot all the time in what ever temp
