Incorrect exhaust on my car?

So I recently bought my '09 SES coupe 5sp and I kept reading in all the reviews that the coupes fitted with the manual transmission were supposed to have a "sport exhaust" which basically meant it had no lunchbox resonator right before the tailpipe. Oddly enough my car does have the lunchbox and I'm trying to figure out why. The only reasons I can think of is either the previous owner changed it or the PZEV models come with the normal exhaust even on the manual coupe.

Would anyone be able to confirm or deny my theory on the PZEV bit? Also, is the only difference between the normal and sport exhaust the lunchbox resonator before the tailpipe? If I had the lunchbox taken out will I get the exact same thing as the sport exhaust?

I have never heard of a sport exhaust on a Mk2. I have seen a lunch box on every single 08-11 Focus that was in stock form. I've gotten into a habit of looking for it because it is a tell-tale sign of another Focus enthusiast, if it is missing or not lol.

I was just reading on another thread that the 05-07 ST did not come with the lunchbox, but I don't know if that is true or not.

You could delete it, it is a very common modification. I've heard it costs anywhere from $50-80, but I don't think it is worth it. I think it is better to save up for a nice 2.5" stainless system from FSWerks.

The '09 and newer coupes with the manual were supposed to have the sport exhaust. You can look at the pictures at the following article and see the lack of the lunchbox in the rear. I can easily see it underneath my car when standing behind it in.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be buying an aftermarket exhaust for this car. If anything I'll just have the lunchbox removed. It's my daily driver and I'd rather spend the money in sway bars or something else.

Hmm, never seen anything about that before. At least you were lucky enough to get a factory rear sway bar.

It all depends on how Ford wants to define as a "sport" exhaust
