Window Tint

Going to get the windows tinted today on the focus, I'm curious as to what percentage you guys would recommend? I live in Indiana and the legal is 35%, but who obeys the rules now a days? Haha

Just be glad you don't live in NY. Technically the legal limit for our front and rear side windows is 70% or higher. :(

It's almost not worth getting your window tinted in NYS as now the police have an excuse to pull you over. And if they town happens to be holding a fundraiser... errr ticket blitz, you can be sure you'll get written up.

35% on the front doors looks good with 15% on the rears. Although 35% all around isnt terrible, still decently dark. 15% is great if drive at night at all and hate being blinded by cars/trucks' bright lights from behind.

I have 15% on the rear windows and its pretty nice.

35% is well enough IMO.
Mine meters at 45% and the state minimum in Minnesota is 50% (+/-3%). Been pulled over for it a couple times and 1 ticket. I told the cop flat out that I'm not pulling it off. It looks darker than it really is because the interior is all black and nothing is reflective.

Tint Laws
looking here Indiana is 30% on all windows, no visor. I'm sure this is net and not just film so 35% would be best to keep it legal. If you plan on going darker than that I'd say 20% in rears and 35% up front or just 20% all around. Your tint laws are much nicer than in IA we cant have any up front, but we can have anything we want in the back.

Food for thought since not everyone has manual rearviews.
Dark doesn't work for those with auto dimming rearviews.
I had 20% on my last car (11 fusion sport) and it wouldn't allow enough light through the rear window to activate the mirror, and with no way to manually activate it it got damn annoying. Even with bright lights behind me.
on my new car it works perfect with 35% on the rear window.

Being an Indiana resident as well, i believe the tint law is 32%, not that it matters. Here is my car with the ~35% tint all the way around. If I would do it again I would keep the 35 in the front but drop the back two and rear window to 20%.

Cops around here don't pull you over unless you give them a reason to. A buddy had 15% all the way around, got pulled over cause of loud music. Had to peel it all off right on the spot, $175 ticket to boot.

But it all just comes down to personal preference on what you are comfortable doing.
