Question for you DURATEC owners...
While my friend has not yet signed up on the boards, he wanted me to ask you guys some questions...
He has a 2005 Ford Focus ZX3 (dark Gunmetal). So far all he has done is the Eibach Suspension Pro Kit. He's looking to up the performance ante' a little bit. OVERALLY he's looking for 250-300whp forced inducted thru a turbo. He loves turbos since my SRT-4 is making over 500whp. Now, with all that said heres what he's looking to start off with...CAI, 65mm Throttle Body, and headers-back exhaust. Yae or Nae? Him and I know not too much about the performance of this car other than I know it has the oppertunity to grow (power wise). What do you guys recommend for first off mods.

Well, if he wants FI, I wouldn't get the CAI, or the Header as those will both be replaced if he goes turbo, which is the best way to go. Tell him to go to www.focus-power.com and check it out. Good luck to him.

yea, will do thanks man. I figured the headers would be replaced with an exhaust manifold and a downpipe...I'll tell him to check it out. Any other good info?

As far as I know, any turbo kit for the Duratec engine is still in R&D, and may be that way for a long time.
For now, perhaps his best bet would be to build it up NA, but using parts that can be used in a Forced Induction setup in the future. I too want a turbo kit for the Duratec, but even finding parts for an NA Duratec build isn't easy yet. But even NA, this engine has the potential for good numbers. Look at the dyno proven gains on the 2.3L Duratec for Marcy Motorsport's CAI. Approx. 10 hp and 8 tq. For a cat-back exhaust, gains are estimated around 4 - 8 hp. Both these specs, I believe, are wheel horsepower gains. With that in mind, just with an intake and cat-back, he'll be happily surprised and impressed with his Duratec.

Very true, in the new FF magazine they bolt on a FS cold air intake and exhaust to the 2.3L duratec showing some very sufficient gains.
