Question SVT stage 1 kit

I'll be adding a bit of boost to my 2004 SVT, but on a budget so the intercooled kits are not under consideration. I'm considering the JRSC with rumored FRPP SVT big boost kit (if it actually comes out), the ProCharger and Focus Power's stage 1 SVT kit. While I am probably able to install these kits I value my free time too much and plan to pay for installation. As an engineer I want data logging features for my own entertainment and possibly for use by my tuner.

I believe all three kits come without installation or data logging features. The FRPP provides a mail in ECU flash but the others require a custom tune. Considering these additional costs I believe the Focus Power stage 1 SVT kit is the least costly option and the ProCharger option is the most expensive. Cost wins and I like the dyno curves of the Focus Power full kit and ZETEC stage 1 kits that I've seen. Lots of torque in the mid range where I'll get the most use out of it. After lots of poking around and searching I haven't seen a dyno result for the SVT stage 1 kit though. What can I expect? Premium fuel here is 93 and a station near by sells racing fuel with higher octane but I'll have to drive by again to get the specifics.

Also, I've been reading about CARB approval for some kits but I really do not know if I need that in Illinois. The regulatory approval issue aside, is there really a reason to expect emissions to be a problem with any of these kits when properly tuned?

Hmm, one last question. Tom mentions that the stage 1 kit can be upgraded to the full kit. What stays and what goes with the upgrade?

Oh, and hello from a new forum member!

Hello, The STG1 kit will make 200/200 on 93 fuel , and that is the limit of the kit with out adding the intercooler, when time comes to add the cooler you will loose only the pipe from the turbo to the TB , this keeps from throwing lots of parts away to upgrate

Now with the full kit and the ability to get high octane 300+ is an easy number

My SVT kit keeps the stock CAT in the stock location

Thanks for the response. I've seen many times that you are careful about avoiding detonation and I appreciate that as I want to keep this vehicle, and its engine, for a long time so a peak of 200 wtq and whp is fine. I'd still like to know what the power vs. rpm is for the SVT. Is this ZETEC dyno curve representative of the SVT response? Does the SVT torque come on or fall off differently?

That dyno is from a ZX3 but will be what the STG1 SVT will look like

I've been scrubbing over the detailed installation document that TURBO-ZX3 has provided and noticed that the EGR valve is removed. Does something else in the system keep Nitrous Oxide production down or am I going to have problems with the emissions gestapo?

You have a SVT they dont have the EGR on them , there is little diff, between what needs to be done with the SVT to ZX3 but EGR and and a few other very small things

Also the down pipe is much easier to install to your EXH on the SVT

Excellent. The Zetec instructions looked doable but I'm not so sure installation will be obvious to me without a guide. Are any instructions provided with the kit? I hope I'm not going to get in over my head here...
