Cai Mpg Q

Hey, just was wondering if a CAI can screw with your MPG at all? The ford dealership told me that it really screws it up, but how would it?!?! I don't believe it.

it screws it up in the way that you love the extra power so much you can't seem to get your foot off the floor

I noticed a decrease for the first few days .... due to the fact that I found myself flooring it constantly and listening to the sweet music it makes at WOT!! LOL ....... especially when you get it around 7K RPM, it just sounds mean as hell and really pissed off!!! hehehe

^^^ haha, yea i noticed the same thing and yes the sound is to die for. you'll love it, real deep, esp at 4K rpm and up, and at about half throttle, they kinda have a whistle to them that kinda sounds like a turbo. You dont see huge gains but they defenitely make a difference, and the faster you are going, the better they work.

Bingo. Theorectically the improved efficiency of the air intake should provide better mileage, but in reality no one buys a cold air intake and then drives like a grandma. I don't pay much attention to my gas mileage, to be honest, but I haven't noticed an increase or decrease in gas usage compared to the stock intake.

I have kept a spreadsheet logging my gas mileage ever since I got the car. There is ZERO difference in my range since installing the CAI.

This is not always true, due to mapping. For example, MAP based 2000+ 2.5L Subarus run pig rich with CAI. Gas mileage is usually down about 30 miles per tank, or about 9%.
