Shorty Headers

I just saw on myZx3.com or what not that at one time Focus Central made a shorty header??? Was it any good?? What is the best shorty header on the market?? Also, you guys are always saying that the stock cat will give up with performance headers, how long does it ussually take for that to occur????

cut the life in half...dont get a shorty header, its a waste of money even if you only pay 20 bucks for it..it might give you a horsepower, but the cat constrictts things too much so its a waste.

That is why you get a highflow cat.

For those that have to remain 'emmisions legal' this is one of the only options (along with the SVT header package). A race header will make you 'emmisions illegal' depending on your states laws.

I've got a JBA shorty and am very happy with this. Still have no problems with the stock cat (for about a year now) but I do plan on adding the hiflow cat this summer to finnish it off. I was really torn between the shorty and the race header, but I went the shorty route to be sure to avoid any emissions problems in the future.

JBA, Ford Racing (which I had). If you want to stay emisson legal, go with a SVT Header + hi-flow cat. Shorty headers are a waste of money IMO. Been there, done that.

the oem cat will only last 1 or 2 months after the install and if you dont have to pass emissions you could put an off-road pipe like i did but see if someone can make you a custom one for cheaper. good luck

I have a fc shorty header, fc hi flow cat, and an fc flex pipe I think they work great for those of us in emission controlled states IMO.

Also, if you get a race header, be prepared for having a very loud exhaust.
Better look in to getting a resonator to quiet it down unless you like to attract police attention to your car.
