^^^That sounds intriguing...

The Adrenalin looks nice, I'd buy one if I was in the market for a sporty truck. With gas at the prices they are and no signs of going down that kinda sucks, but it doesn't stop people from buying Hummers, so who knows?!

Maybe the next "secret" has to do with a hydrogen/hybrid car, since they have a powerful gas-guzzlign truck unveiled...

Thanks for the info Osunick!

Am I making this up or were the Lightnings automatic?

I doesn't sound right but for some reason that's in my head...

Yeah, the most recent lightning was an automatic.

Man, I never knew that... wierd. thanks for the info!
I wonder why they don't have the paddle or synchro shifters for people who don't know how or want to use a clutch? For a performance vehicle it seems strange to not have control of your shifting points, but I may be way off.

Hopfully this turns out to be in addtion to a lightwieght good handling svt, and not replacing one...

Well i am sure a big part of it is the lack of a manual transaxle in the stable that can handle the power and torque and work in a high performance truck. And in america a lot of people hate manuals so the automatic makes it a more practical sell. Which is really what this car is all about. Sport and Utility. A real SUV. Heh, that should be the tag line. As for paddle shifters, they are really for enthusiasts who know what they're getting into, not for automatic drivers who want manual control. As of yet they are still not all that smooth (though you do get a shift in 2 tenths of a second) and again, Ford doesn't have a paddle shifter that can handle the torque. An automatic is still much smoother (and therefore more appealing) to the super truck buyers.

So basically this is the 03-04 Cobra motor crammed into a new Sport Trac design? It's nice but I'm sure it will be way out of my price range.

If this information was embargoed, why did I see this on "another" Focus site yesterday (the linked picture was to Edmunds.com)??

Also, what's the difference between this and the Explorer Sport Trac concept that was already shown a while ago now? They look identical except for paint and a few cosmetics...

And lastly, is there any estimate on how much of this look will make it to production? Obviously they're going to have to ditch some things, like doors with no handles for one.

Because the embargo expired over the weekend, so I assume that's when the focus site posted it. As for your other questions, I don't know anything. The other sport trac concept is basically the same car, I assume some decisions had to be made regarding production, so they held off on the details until they knew they had a plan to sell it to the public, but your guess is as good as mine.

I think the explorer sport trac concept that was shown is the general production model (non high performance) and the one here is the SVT version.

So the other embargo is presumably about the other SVT product in the works, right?? Cobra? Nod once for yes, twice for no.

I read the Autoweek forum about the vehicle (Sport Trac/Adrenalin), and the comments posted on the blog you linked to, it's funny how quick people jump on this and call it a piece of crap, and how Ford will never build it, blah blah, blah... how can it be a piece of crap when it hasn't even been built yet?? Saw a lot of Dodge boys boasting about their SRT's also... puhleez.

Vanace... yeah I just realized that. D'oh. I guess what I was trying to say, was why didn't they say something about an SVT version of the vehicle when they previewed the Explorer Sport Trac concept?
