1st car noob has questions

So I just bought a ford focus of my boss it's a 2004 1.6 edge with 111000 miles on it. Gun metal grey and alloys. Full service history and 4months mot and 4 tax. Bit of a dent in rear quarter panel.
Do you think it was worth 600.

Since I past my test a few month back I've only drove a few super cars at a track day thing ( Nissan gtr 35 by far fastest ;) ) so don't really now what to look for to see if it's a good motor either.
So next question is what should I check in the engine to make sure it's good. I've been reading the forum a bit lately and figured that you need to change the timing belt at 100k I'd guess it's been done already tho but not sure. So is this engine an interference one. As I read on some engines if it goes your engine does too so it made me a little worried.

Also what kind of engine is it Ive only seen mentioned duartec and zetec I'm guessing duratec.

I'm loving the car tho even if it's old it feels good pretty nippy too to say it only has 100bhp

Cheers

check the oil, trans fluid, coolant, power steering and brake fluid, make sure theyre not disgusting or infested, and if the timing belt has never been done do it. a reputable mechanic would have put a sticker under the engine bay saying if the timing belt was replaced and at what mileage, if it was done by a half rate grease monkey, and your still unsure, replace it, itll be worth it in the long run.

Thanks I'll look for a sticker tomorrow. Is changing the belt something I could do myself. I'm a plumber and I'm used to doing things for the first time and following instructions.

Sorry Mate, can't tell much about the engine without some research, that size wasn't sold here.

Two dipsticks indicates an engine oil check & an automatic trans. check. Engine is done when it's off & the oil settles before pulling/wiping/reinserting the stick to check. Trans. is done the same way with the engine running.

Cheers

My bad explanation there didn't help I shouldn't of let it seem like I saw 2 dipsticks lmao I just found an online manual and the other cap I wasn't sure of is where the engine oil goes lol kicking myself right now as common sense went out the window for me. Cheers for the info. I'll be testing it tomorrow.

Is there a way to see if it's bad oil? And does bad/gone off oil kill the car?

Top cap for fill, handle for dipstick - that works.

If the Oil looks quite dark, and your service info. doesn't tell you the age/miles on it, then change the Oil & filter so you know when it was done & can figure the next change from there.

"Old" oil seldom kills one, LACK of oil (too low) can be a killer. Does need regular changes to last the best.
