Angry Losing Sanity

I have a 2003 ford focus ZX3 with an automatic transmission.
the issue I'm having with it is the transmission has trouble shifting period. Sometimes when I start off the tranny shifts fine between 1st to 2nd. If i have to get on the throttle a lil bit it will sometimes kick and cause the traction light to come on, when it moves from 2nd to 3rd it does fine. But when it goes from 3rd to 4th that is when things get stupid. By that I mean this the engine will rev to over 4k rpms and then kick into gear so hard it jerks the car. After it does that as long as driving is continuous the shifting is fine. If after that i have to go over 55 mph the rpms climb higher and the car does not seem to go much over 60 mph! I had the codes pulled once but I cant remember what they said. any kind of help is welcome!

You may want to research the solenoids. I haven't experienced this myself, but it may give you a start.

Sanity is over-rated and not required when driving either.

If that was me, I would not replace solenoid SSA by its' self. I would replace them all (6), plus new fluid, plus new filter. 6-solenoid kits can be got for cheap.
You've got to ask yourself one question: Do you feel lucky? -and could you really drive a Focus ATX Wagon?

First things first.......with an automatic transmission that has any kind of shifting problems, always check the fluid level first. The transmission works on hydraulics and if there isn't enough oil everything starts to fail.

Pulling codes only to forget what they were seems less than helpful to onesself, some of the strain may be self induced.........mentioning 1 to 2 shift like sometimes good and sometimes not and then the OD issues has 2-4 band problem all over it. The 2-4 servo piston commonly breaks the pin loose to make various issues.
