I feel like I might be out of options, because I can't pull a log file off the Predator at all. IT is my profession and this serial connection has been driving me in circles.
I'm pretty sure I will lose your custom tune if I restore the original backup. Could you email a tune to me with TC defeat and a high-flow cat? casey.rauth at verizon.net |

Cayse, i updated the firmware to Diablo's latest. it is awesome! the Predator is much faster than before. it has more options and best of all...no need to pull fuses!!
like Tom said though, you need to restore the car to the original backup before updating the firmware. Tom...my question for you. i recently got a laptop with no serial connector. im sure i can connect to it via USB. but how? i dont understand the drivers that are listed on Diablo's site. thanks.

USB-to-serial converters are an enormous headache. It is most important to make sure you buy an adapter that is compatible with your OS! I bought the Summit kit (which I believe is DiabloSport's own kit), and it isn't compatible with Vista x64.
Beyond that, just follow the directions earlier in this thread to make sure all the serial port settings are correct. |

I bought a IOGEAR GUC232A USB to Serial Adapter from cyberguys.com and it does work great and has drivers for vista X64 (on IOGEAR's website). I've used it since for a couple years now and had no problems.
Also, yes, I can't say it enough, put your stock tune back on the car prior to upgrading the CROM. I didn't (the directions that I had didn't say anything about it) and I had to reflash the car at the dealer to be able to change tunes, and have Diablosport reset my Predator. Big pain and $100 for the reflash plus a tow to the dealer when Diablosport had me to force the tune back on the car and it locked the ECU. Listen to Tom. Again, if you really want to upgrade to the latest, put the stock tune back on the car!!! Good luck and have fun.

I just purchased a used predator with a USB data and power cable. Would i be able to remove that tune, and either replace it with Tom's tune or the SVTF tune off the diablo website?
Also, where is my PCM code in my SVTF? (I know, stupid question) Last edited by darkstarmotorsports; 06-17-2009 at 09:44 PM. |

BTW, the other concept I want to be 100% sure of is "grabbing a copy of the original backup"...or something like that. Regarding (re)installing a custom tune to the Predator and then to the car, I understand the Predator needs to have a copy of the stock tune. Diablo says to start the process of loading the performance tune onto the car, then exit after the stock tune has been backed up onto the Predator. Problem is, the last time I went through this (emissions testing again...argh) the Predator showed nothing about the backup occurring, and no way to stop the whole process at that point, so I just completely installed the Diablo performance tune onto the car, then attempted to load the custom tune onto the Predator from my Vista (junk!) PC. It did seem to work, as the Predator did eventually show "custom tune" in the menu. Any comments to clarify things would be appreciated! EDIT: You can all continue to ignore this post...I figured it out on my own. Humbug... Last edited by apex214; 07-11-2009 at 10:18 PM. |
