I think the last time he pm'd me he is looking into trying to get the 9pin cable hooked up to his dads laptop due to not having a 9pin on his. I think if you follow the instructions I provided (plus what is above my post) and you use the 9pin cable you can't lose.

Hmmm.
I better check out our computer, before I purchase something I can't use.
Actually, I still haven't decided which tuner I'm going with,
but I know I'm getting something before our first A/C event on April 17th.

What do I look for as far as a 9 pin connector on our computer?
I was assuming this would be a USB connection, but it's different than that?

This is a really bad pic but it is the only one I could find of a 9 pin on the back of a pc http://charm.cs.uiuc.edu/users/olawl...serial_db9.jpg . This is what you need to hook up the predator to the laptop. There are usb conversion/adapters out there, you would have to check with radio shack about that. If you use all the info provided above and the straight 9 pin to 9 pin cable to hook the Predator to your pc/laptop it will/should work.

Well what Tom has told me is I need a USB to 9 pin. The problem with that was I only have a CD drive and no floppy drive and the only USB to 9 pin that I could find came with a floppy(almost all new laptops dont come with a floppy anymore). Tom informed me of a certain brand USB to 9 pin that comes with a CD. I am going to try to find one of those to see if things work. If not then I am going to get a power supply so I can hook up my predator to power in the house and then try it on my fathers CPU.

I will post up as soon as I get this stuff resolved and also make a new thread (maybe someone can make a sticky) with the help of Sidney that will explain everything that is needed to get your predator up and working with your CPU or laptop.

You cold also buy that one with a floppy and find a friend or someone who haves a pc with a floppy and a cd burner and just copy/burn the floppy contents onto a cd. Just a sugestion. If your dads pc has a 9 pin conector (check pic above) I would just get a 9 pin to 9 pin cable and use his pc in your car. Even if you get the a/c adapter and use his pc to upload log files you would need the 9 pin conector or a usb/9 pin cable to make the conection. Good luck.

If your PC is USB you will need a adaptor for USB to 9 pin I O Gear is what i used

Install the adaptor software , pick the correct baud rate and COM port and you are ready to use the Predator

I am back online and moved into my new house. I have really missed you sorry fools. LOL!

I also have a serial to USB with a CD to format on its way this week. Hopefully this will resolve my problems no matter if it is tune related or we figure out for sure that it isnt and I can get whatever it is lined out.
