used SVT worth buying?

haowdy everybody! my bro is in the market for a new car, and he found an '03 Black SVT in a used car lot. i have the exact same year AND color, cept i got mine brand new off the lot; so he thought it'd be cool if we rolled in the same kind of car...i went to go check it out, and some things were VERY odd...first of all, the area around the headlights was grey instead of black...i think it's been in an accident before, and they put on regular foci headlights...also, it ISNT a euro packaged SVT, but it has heated seats? is that possible on regular SVT? just a few questions i'd like to ask my fellow SVTers...any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mine isnt euro and I have the heated seats, that comes with the cold weather package this also includes a block heater and traction control. Is it at a dealership or just a used car-lot? Because like you said it may have been in an accident. You could car-fax it but those things can be bogus. Try and get in contact with the previous owner. If the area around the inside of the headlamp (in the engine bay) is still black with no markings the original headlamp may have been cracked and they just didnt replace it with the stock SVT ones.

If the Carfax comes out clean, I'd of course recommend it : ) I bought a certified "used" 2003 SVTF 5 door with 7000 miles from an Ford/SVT dealer and I couldn't be happier...since you own a Focus already, you're well aware of how much fun it is...tell your bro to go for it....but make dang sure he gets some different rims than you, or something to set your cars apart :) that'd be excellentay.

yeah just make sure u get the full story on the car btw how many miles are on that car. it may be better to get one certified from a dealer which maybe have some warranty on it just in case u run into some problems. Might wanna check that out as well but good luck and make sure ur bro doesn't get the one with the HID's cuz ur gonna end up waking up in the middle of the night and jacking his headlights lol unless u already have it then this last sentence has no point to it

mmm HID. But you know carfax isnt always for real, sometimes accidents go unclaimed and the work is done privately so the car-fax report can be BS sometimes. Yeah how many miles and how much $$?

true true. I'd say... new is safe but expensive. tell him to get a used SE-R or something.

Right now, a used svt is the best bang for the buck I think. Just be sure to get the warranty extended by Ford. Do a premium care package. Then go in somewhere and tell them that you want the TSB and tranny overhaul. Say, that there is some problems happenings. Then bang, you will feel like you have a new car.

I would defintely recommend a used SVTF just cause they are so low in price! As for those suspicious things you found check them out in more detail, run a Carfax, and talk to the dealership people. What's the price for it right now?

happy and proud driver of a used svt here. i got it at 13000 miles had the tsb at 25000 feels like a brand new car. my only advice is that some dealers not all ask way to much for used svts. one example being a 2002 focus svt with 25000 miles and they were asking like 14,500 for it and would only come down 500
