Mind you, the post was only a few days old when I started so I had no idea that two boxes were out there. Anyway... I built a fiberglass box with a MDF front panel basically the same shape as the stock box. I bumped it out a little here and there and managed a solid .65 cubic foot. Stock carpet covered perfect with a little modification to the rear hatch light. All stock audiophile mounts were used. Sounds great- thanks
I still haven't fixed my setup...there's just an empty hole in the back corner of my car. :-P

Do you have the drawings or dimensions of the homemade setup you did?

Jopala,

I just saw a couple of stock enclosures on sale in the buy/sell section, you could jump on one of those.

i would think there'd be a way to make it big enough for a 12 by using the back that molds onto the car, and then doing a custom front with MDF...since thats basically what you would do with fiberglass.....you'd just have to use another carpet or even vinyl over it.

how do you test the volume with water? sorry if thats a dumb question....but i've never done it

You pour water into the box, and see how much you can fit. Knowing that 1L=0.001 cubic meters, you figure out the volume. This is the beauty of the metric system...

I followed this how-to with some minor differences, and I'm very happy with the results using a Polk/Momo 10"! Thanks for the walkthrough! Also, to add to the front of it to increase depth to use a 12" you'll have to deal with the carpeting somehow as well. I already have to pull the carpet away from the sub a bit because the sub will vibrate against the carpeting when it hits.

Woot!

After a LOT of procrastination and needing the right enclosure, I have finally set mine up. I used the same sub as the original 'how to' and was expecting it to come out sounding nice...it doesn't sound 'nice', it sounds awesome! I am loving this setup! Thanks for posting this how-to! Now I just gotta figure out what I want to do now that I'm done with that...

Had me worried when you said "it doesn't sound 'nice'...".

Glad it turned out as well as mine did.
