Aftermarket TPMS advice

Howdy All,

Thinking I would like a TPMS on my '07 ST. Has 17" zinik rims with 215/45/17s.

Has anyone added a system to their car? Which system, any hits ideas are appreciated.

Cheers

Why not buy a $5 tire pressure gauge and check the pressure every time you fill your gas tank? In all honesty, it is the most reliable way to monitor tire pressure.

Well this is embarrassing to admit, but with our crappy local roads and low profile stiff sidewalls......

I've had two rapid deflates at 70-75mph that were not obvious (to me) which resulted in totaled tires.

The roads are rutted enough that it just felt like the normal squirel-y directional control as the tire deflated. That cost me 300.00 in replacement tires.

So I was thinking of a TPMS to avoid this in the future

TPMS won't notify you until you've lost 25%~ of your tire pressure.

Yes, but that is still a warning and better than what I have now which is nothing. If I pulled over and checked my tired everytime a rut in the road made my focus act like it had a low tire, It woukd take me an hour to drive 15 miles to work.

I would get a warning and could pull over BEFORE my tire is ruined.

Cheers

Yes but at that point, damage is already being done.

In any event, just do a google search for aftermarket tpms, and do some research to find what suites your needs. Most people who have tpms on these forums, have it because they have a 2008+ model, or they don't have it all and are quite happy without it. I hate mine. But I'm not willing to pay to put them in my summer wheels and tires.
