ORP, HFC, stock cat sound

I have seen several discussions on here about different cats but what I don't recall seeing, (maybe I didn't look hard enough), is a good comparison of the sound of each. Specifically how loud is an HFC, Dominic's for instance, compared to stock and an ORP. My car has an ORP and I hate the sound. I was about to buy an HFC but I don't want to get it and regret it because it's still too loud and wish I had looked for a used factory cat. Any input is appreciated.

Don't understand your question.. You have a Off Road Pipe it's loud yes. HFC will be louder then Stock cat, but not as loud as a Off Road pipe. I have a HFC and a Lunchbox delete it drones like a mother, but it isn't my daily driver and it fun. ORP>HFC>Cat in sound and performance

This is the one I put on my '04 SVT http://www.c-f-m.com/performancepart...1826_thumb.jpg and I couldn't be more pleased. It does give the car a deeper, somewhat louder tone, but it's certainly not displeasing. I don't notice much at highway speed either.

Thanks guys, I realize the HFC will be louder than stock just wondering how much louder. I guess the better question would be how much quieter is it than an ORP since that's what was on the car when I got it? This is my daily driver and would like it fairly quiet, a little louder than stock I can deal with but it needs to be much quieter than it is now.

VAfromMN, it sounds like you are saying it's not very loud at all so that's good. I'll probably go ahead and order one, c-f-m currently shows them as out of stock but Dominic said he has his in stock and it looks like they both use similar cats. Same price as well.

It's not. I'm not a fan of loud, but right now it sounds real "mellow". Low to mid RPM its got a nice rasp to it, and if I'm alongside somebody and get on it, I can hear it echo, but I don't notice anything obtrusive inside the car.

I recently installed the CFM HFC on my car going from stock cat and exhaust. It is noticeably louder than stock but it's not to the point of obnoxious like the ORP. However, I don't know what you consider loud and obnoxious so what might be fine for me might be annoying to you.

Hey Powder, I had the same issue as you with the ORP. I didn't mind it when I got it, but after a while I got annoyed with the rasp between 2200-3200k when I would do roadtrips. I opted to put the svt cat back in myself. And to my surprise I found that I have two cracks in my ORP where the o2 bungs are anyway. I thought about the high flow cat as well, but I couldn't be happier with how nice it sounds inside the car again. Also I have the Magnaflow catback and it still sounds aggressive at WOT.
