Focus Help

I purchased a 2001 Focus, Vin P , SOHC---5 speed manual shift---4 months ago had new timing belt -and everything with it replaced , including a new camshaft sensor-- Just last week 2 new problems have showed up ---I do have a code scanner--it shows me NO codes, #1problem a bog or stumbling when i try to accelerate with a heavy foot---on my scanner it shows the timing retarding during the stumbling--i dont believe this is normal? My friends tell me that the TPSensor is the problem? #2problem--my speedometer has began acting like a tachometer??? as im driving it would go up to 60mph--and then go back down to normal?? Just this morning--when the engine started started--the speedometer reved up like a tach---to 60mph-- then went back down to Omph?? I hope some one here could help me--Are these 2 issues related to each other? I never lost my desire to wrench on cars&harleys--But computers and sensors--are a little ahead of me now. Thanks for listenin--Ray

The speedo isssue might be the velocity sensor, but if it is intermittent, a wiring problem seems likely.

Two issues could be related. Speedo problems could cause your car to think it hit the governor, causing an intentional temporary timing retard.
Defending the reputation of the red-headed step-child of the focus world for far too long.

I hope you find an answer to this problem as mine is doing something similar. The speedometer wobbles occasionally. I read somewhere that it could be a grounding issue. Maybe try cleaning your ground wires, idk.
