This. One with an S2 or (sedan) SAP wing could pull it off. I'd do it!

Edit: there's actually a few wings that could work. The stock sedan one-both 1st and 2nd gen, and couple aftermarkets for the hatches.

Why's it always have to be an SPI joke?

Because the other car part that I know goes bad regularly is a solex carburetor, and I don't know how many people around here know what those are!

Actually the spi is very, I mean very reliable. If one would simply rebuild or replace the head you would never need to fix it. Great on gas, and has been known to put out more torque than the zetec. We had ours for 4 years before the engine blew and I had less 100 bucks in repairs. We put over 100,000 miles on it. Great engine, hands down. After mybad luck with my zetec swap I wish I would have just swapped in another spi and called it a day.

Until the zetec can prove it to me other wise I would recommend the spi to anyone, any day. Just get a new damn head.
