You are completely right in one aspect: the term "rice" is a racial slur. Me stating that the term is typically applied to asian vehicles, however, is not.

Not meaning to get into a history lesson on slang terms (Google "origin of rice burner"), but "rice burner", "ricer", "rice rocket", etc. in their origins are completely derogatory, poking fun at rice being a staple in asian diet, as though the asian vehicles ran on rice rather than gasoline. As the terms have become more popular, they've become more socially acceptable and widely used (now including non-asian vehicles), but they are no less defamatory.

But rather than picking nits about what is and what isn't "rice", let's see some more shameful cars!

Maybe we could amend the title of the thread to be "Rice reports and other car mod failures"? I'd hate for people to leave out examples like that Challenger just because it doesn't fit the title.

^That's not a midwing, it's a handle. (read: shopping cart)

and now we have non-Focus owners trying to butt in and say what is right for our forum?

Glad the ricer thread brought you here, but it does say something about you as a person, or at least what you where Googling for (which I'm quite surprised the Michigan thread wasn't the first result in the search).

and FWIW, I tried deleting this entire thread couple years back because I think it's utterly stupid ... you have no idea how many FF members cars I want to post in here.

Actually what brought me here was trying to inform myself about the upcoming release of the ST, which I'm anxiously awaiting an order date. I've been a huge fan of the Euro ST and RS for years, and was excited to find a place to educate myself about what to expect from a Focus. This thread, while not very informative, has been a nice distraction while waiting inbetween updates from Ford about the ST.

I don't have much to add to other threads because I don't have a Ford in my driveway yet, but that should change soon. Wasn't really trying to say what should be done, but rather just adding the little input I could give so far. I guess I could add in some MINIs with ridiculous mods. ;)
