Some lights are verticle while others are horizontal. I've seen them both ways.

Same here, though I don't recall seeing them anywhere in the city. I know I've seen them in Jersey. The horizontal lights are a better design - when you have a really windy day, vertical lights sway all over the place and sometimes snap off from the momentum. Horizontals aren't going anywhere unless the whole pole falls down...in which case you'd have bigger problems than those lights falling.

i used to go to burlington iowa to see my grandparents, and every time id drive in that town, id just about miss the stoplights due to the fact that they are sideways.
