Last week I also changed out my green filter for the OEM filter. The green filter is nice and everything but it was a little loud especially when I was trying to drive somewhat stealthy. Does anyone have any input on the K&N and the extra noise? Or am I just stupid and I need to go ahead and install the green filter back? someone convince me.

BTW I installed the OEM filter back for noise and the thought I would get better MPG. The noise was less but the MPG seems to be the same and if not WORST! Funny how after the first couple of weeks of having the car I got about 32 MPG and now I get 27. I guess my driving habits have changed.

I have a k&n full Cai on my 2012 sel and it's loud. You really hear it if you get into the car. The nice thing is that it sounds like the subaru so I can't complain. I got about a half a mile per gallon more.

No noise change at all.

Yeah I may have to purchase the K&N drop in. The green filter is just a little loud because of the open end. I like that with the K&N you have option to cap off the open end. I think the K&N coupled with a tune will be exactly where I want to be, well just until I get an itch, and that doesn't take long. Maybe Newmission Mod will be next. I would hate for my MPG to go down further but it is already low anyways. Plus most of my driving is done on the freeway during good old rush hour traffic.

Some of the guys on here have said that if you couple the k&n with an exhaust it equals things out and it's not as loud. Possibly something to look into especially if your looking to get a tune.

Wow I will need to do some reading and figure out the logic in that. On paper you would expect it to be louder but I guess there is something I missing here. BTW, in your opinion, what is the best exhaust for quietness and HP gain?

Idk to be honest. I have heard really good things about the fswerks stealth exhaust. But everyone has their own opinion. I'm still running stock exhaust until I find a good dual exhaust system. Most people will tell you it's better off to just build your own. I like that idea because it's cheaper and you get everything you want in a setup. If you want quiet get something with a highbrow cat and a resonator and muffler. Should stop it from sounding like a rice burner.

Sorry to say that I haven't really updated my build. I've been battling in my head that I *may* trade in my car for an ST... Still debating. I guess that is why I haven't done anything for a while. I love the car but I can't help but think more HP will be more fun to drive. Having said that I did switch to premium fuel which makes the car seem like more HP is there!

If I do the switch I'll probably take a 5k hit though.
