New Year and a new car

I got a new car this year some of you may recognize this as the Capaldi Spec Focus/Ford show car. I will be working one the car this season making some changes to Move it in to SCCA Club Racing most likely it will be classed as in STL.

The first PDX weekend the car ran without issue, the car is still using the Spec focus suspension, the only changes I have made at this point are short shifter, raising the shifter base, front caliper bussing’s and brake pads.

Next will be to install the coilovers from my old car and corner balance and align the car.

Do you have any special rituals when the helmet is concerned like many have? - I wipe it so that I can see better.

Congrats, nice looking car. The intake takes it out of IT but tons of potential, enjoy.

I don’t think it would be eligible for IT till next year anyway, and the intake manifold isn’t legal for ST ether but it probably won’t be protested. I’m going to end up running with Miata’s so I honestly don’t ever see the car being class contender.

Hopefully this coming weekend I’ll get a little more help with classing the car, a fellow FF member will be barrowing the car for comp school.

Cool new toy nonetheless.

IT rules allow all vehicles 5 years and older. The ford spec suspension is a slightly better than stock design with much better rebound control on the shocks and struts. Springs are way to soft for proper balance of a full on race car. I converted a spec focus to IT three years ago if you need any info on what has worked for us please feel free to contact me. It you want to see lean look at the NASA videos of some spec races, showroom stock style leaning, much better drivers than me controlling jello in a bowl.

The spec focus set up was more of a street supination. The new one going in will be kw’s with 450lbs/in front and 575 lbs/in rear.

I have fs werks race plates in the front, I also have been running kumho tires, 2.1-2.5 neg front. I have H&R front coilovers, and I run 750 springs, zero tow on 16" wheels. We are now allowed 15" so we are going to move to these, losing 20lbs of rotating mass :) we found with the lower ride height and and stiff setup tire temps didn't need more camber. The rear is KYB agx shocks with 950 rate springs,:)) and a just installed 32 mm adjustable bar up from the 28mm steeda. 2.5 neg rear and zero toe. Is your car equipped with 2.0 liter Duratec? Wish I could use that intake. Final drive will add some pop off the corner, 4.06 is the easy button or a 05-07 st trans, 3.82 final drive.

Interesting maybe I’ll have to try and go up on the spring rates in the front and rear also. I also will be running a 15’ tire I have a fresh set of RR from last year. I see we have a similar front the rear ratio on the spring rates. Maybe I’ll move the rears up front and bump the rears to 720 or so. I don’t run as bit of a bar but I’ll mess with that latter.

Yes mine is a 2.0L
