The Ultimate AEM CAI Test........

Well last Friday afternoon, I was at work and I heard that my town was supposed to be hit by this HUGE storm on my radio at work. I thought nothing of it because I live in the valley, so most of the storms pass us and do nothing, but mess the surrounding mountains up pretty bad. So, I start to notice outside that the sky is just turning black, at about 2 o'clock mind you. From that point on the weather just turns terrible. I was expecting a tornando or something. I heard we had 2 inches in 15 min. It rained for at least 2 hours. Anyways......I was driving to my boyfriends house to pick him up after work. I was driving and all of a sudden I hit a river. The street was so flooded it looked like a river. The water rose to the bottom of my drivers-side window and was up to the bottom of my windshield. It was sooo bad, and scary too. I automatically thought of my CAI, and slowed down. I drove about 1-1 1/2 city blocks in that deep water. I made it to his house with NO problems. We checked my engine bay when I got to his house and it was just a little wet. I must advise that I DO have a by-pass valve on my CAI. I dont see hydrolock as a reason why anyone would NOT buy a AEM CAI. I love my intake and would never change it. I also had a nice burn the day after, a late 90's Maxima. I dont really know if he had anything in his car. All I know is it was an ATX. We were neck in neck but I pulled in the end, about a car's length. I hope this post changes some peoples thoughts on the AEM CAI .

good review, and good stressing the BYPASS VALVE. it's pointless to buy a CAI without the bypass valve.

Hey Steph,not trying to be an a$$ but I have to really question the depth of the water because if it were really up to the bottom of your windshield that would mean the entire engine bay would be underwater...that being the case it wouldn't matter what intake you had the engine would not operate.

Maybe it was splashing up from the tires. I agree - at that depth she would be floating down the river .

The water was about a few inches above the middle of my door, but anyone who knows about driving in deep water would know that water will rise or spalsh up while driving in it. That is what I meant. By the way, my car is lowered about 2 inches in the front, 1.5 in the back.
