stock 1/4 mile times, where to shift

Hi,

Im still kinda new to the ZX3 forum and I just got a 02 ZX3 5 speed.
I was wondering if any of you have taken you focus to the track completly stock and ran it?
What time should I expect to run at the track with intake and cat back exhaust?
Also, since the tach has no redline, I was told it was best to shift at about 5500 RPM's because it makes its full power at 5000 RPM. And going past it is basically pointless?

Thanks

Between 5500-6000rpms is recommended shifting rpm since you don't make any power above 5500. Seems like you were already doing the right thing.

Well some report in mags. say a stock zx3 does 16.2 in 1/4 with a 5- speed. so if thats the case prolly high 15's .

If I'm wrong someone please shoot me. I have a AXT, so my car is really slow

woah...high 15's?..theres no way a stock focus did a high 15..to get into the 15s you hvae to have cai and full exhaust from the engine...you should see more like a 16.4-17.0 depending on how good/bad a driver you are... but i do agree with 5500 in first, 5800 in second and then just stay in third till your done(less time than shifting into 4th even if you over rev)
