MK3 windshield replacement?

So, going along with what seems like an eternity of bad luck, my windshield is completely and utterly destroyed. It was a strange chain of events...One morning I parked the car and went to do some useless crap at work, then by the time afternoon rolled around and I dragged my ass out to the parking lot to go home, my windshield had cracked itself right in my line of vision. "Boo fuggity hoo" I thought, "I'll get it replaced whenever."

Then, on the way home, a kamikaze pigeon picked my windshield to end it's merciful life on, and he happened to smack into it right where a chip was, so that spread like wildfire everywhere. That woke me the hell up. Long story short, my car needs a windshield and needs it damn soon, but money is tight and my insurance company wants quotes as they'll only pick up $300.

My question is what are people on here paying for windshields? My car is a 2012 Titanium with the fancy rain sensor. My local windshield shop wants $550 for one. Holy shart on a stick.

(I just realized that in every pic I'm sitting in traffic. City life. Come summertime I'm finding some backroads.)

Thats what the windshield with the rain sensor costs.

Sorry about your bad luck. I had to have mine replaced and my deductible is $250. exactly 1 week later I had someone pull out in front of me causing an accident, another $250. I did end up getting that money back, but I still had to front it to get my car fixed.

low cost auto glass: $195 A bit of a drive for you - but there are options.

Unfortunately that is what the rain sensing windscreens cost. Right around 500. There was a thread not to long ago about it..

I pay 100 dollar deductible on my windshield replacement and it's a good thing since my STI has the wiper defrosters built into it and I've heard costs about a1000 bux.

My deductible for glass was $200, but I just paid $300 even out of pocket for my windshield. They list at ~$600 apparently, so finding a good deal is hard. Consequently, the place I got my windshield replaced at was the same place I did my driver's side window after my car was broken in to many years ago. They were less than half of everybody else at that time too. THey claim union made glass. Ask whatever company you go through for a corporate discount, and see if they will work with cash.

It does in Florida. Sucks he's a hoser. If you pay out of pocket get a factory glass. Safelight and those "cheap" place use cheap glass from China. I'd rather have carlite. I was quoted near $400 here for a new glass in my Lightning since it's not cracked just pitted after 15 yrs.
