better quality paint would definitely be on my top #1. my 2012 lasted only a year before being totaled and the front valance looked atrocious. Other small gripes would be:
2. more comfortable seats (drove VW golf as a rental and they were way cushier)
3. perfect the DCT (my 2014 is already better than the 2012)
4. more console storage
All in all I love my focus and am happy to keep my mpg getter in the Ford family

More HP or AWD would be awesome, but probably a bit much to ask.

Traction control button is a small thing that would be nice to have.

HID, Memory Seats, 6sd manual, LED tails. Not a must, but AWD could of been a nice option if we can still have decent MPG like the suby. Auto Dim review, rain sensor wipers, and finally adaptive cruise control from the euro model.

Besides all AWD, all of these could of been on the focus...wish they would bring more features From euro model.

Quieter engine. My engine (under 200 miles on it) seems loud – sort of sounds like exhaust noise, but from under the hood. Going to check another Focus to see if it’s normal.
Lower RPM at highway speeds - ridiculously high RPMs. I don't need top gear to be able to go way down to 35MPH! Might require more torque at lower RPMs? Everyone else seems to be able to do it.
1.6L turbo is a no brainer unless the auto tranny can’t handle it. Would be great if the tranny could be geared for lower RPMs (quieter and better MPG) due to the 1.6L’s greater torque.
Less constraining radio. Include pre-amp outputs so we can keep the OEM head unit and dash panel, yet get top notch sound. Or go back to using a standard sized radio (DIN opening in dash). The proprietary radio was a negative when I shopped cars.
Top of doors are rock hard (I like to rest my arm there). Elbow rest is small and down too low (esp. with seat raised). Armrest on center stack (mine is leather if that matters) is also a tad too low and ought to extend further frontwards. Figuring out a way to make the height adjustable would be great.
Seems the gas pedal and brake are slightly too close together - and I haven’t driven it with large boots yet.
I wish the hatch lifted all the way up when I remotely unlock it…I think no cars/vans do that though over concerns of hitting something above? Or add the “foot feature” that the Escape has.
I always check closely for weak spots for corrosion and found some weak areas. Why are the bottom of the doors not welded, or at least filled with something? Has anyone else noticed the bottom lip of the doors is folded over (as always), but not closed/welded shut? Or is it just my car that was "missed"? It's as though they are trying to get the car to rust there! I plan to eventually start a separate thread on rust prevention ideas.

I forgot the ridiculous trunk opening on the sedan. That car trunk is pretty much useless. Big trunk small opening+Subwoofer ohh which by the way I managed to crack carrying something.

After reading numerous requests for more power (including my own), I got to thinking:

Would anyone consider trading their Focus in for a Fiesta ST? You sacrifice size, but gain that power increase many of us want. Would you consider a Fiesta ST over a Focus ST? I know I would (it would still be a very tough call!)

The Focus is already relatively small. I don't know if anything smaller would be practical for me.

I could swing it. No kids, don't haul much cargo nor do I take too many road trips. But I can certainly see how it's an issue for others in different situations.

Agreed. It's a tough call - pricing for a FiST is essentially equal to a FoST, so which one do you get? I've read a few reviews that rate the FiST over the FoST...

I can't understand this.

Of course most of us wouldn't mind more power but I don't think that it's realistic to expect significantly more than 160 HP for a car in this class.

IMO, the Focus has very good power/acceleration for what it is.
It's very happy to cruise along at 70~80 MPH.
