One consideration is why you don't like the DCT.
If you've driven a 2012 with a DCT, they can be all over the place depending upon a number of factors (seals, clutches, firmware, etc.).
The DCT in that new 2014 is likely to work well as Ford has sorted out a number of issues.

That being said, I'm not really trying to talk you into the DCT.
If you really want the manual, re-order the car exactly as you want it (assuming that you can wait).
Perhaps you can get a high priority because of the screw-up.

Years ago i went through a negotiation to buy a Mazda3 when i traded in my protege5... We went back and forth for a few hours i got fairly pissed off as things when on, from saying they can get me exactly what i wanted to:
-sorry that color is no longer available
-only the model with a sunroof is available
-we found your car but it has tint it will cost u extra

We wanted an auto but the 1200$ extra we did not.

Anyway long story short i negotiate a price im happy with for a manual..

A week later after all the drama my car arrives as an automatic! LOL At the price i had agreed on..... It felt like a free 1200$ upgrade to me.. To this day i dont know if it was a mistake or if the dealer and I simply where not talking about the same transmission..

Either way i felt like i came out ahead..

I would tell the dealer to give u that car at the agreed on price or go somewhere else

Thanks for all the replies guys.

First, I did verify with the dealer that they ordered the car with the manual transmission, as I pointed out in my rant, so I do believe it is Ford that made the mistake and not the Dealer.

Second, when I ordered the car I had them search the area for a Titanium with a manual trans. There were 3 in a 50 mile radius and none of them were spec'd out with what I wanted. Like I said, the Ti comes standard with an auto trans, since I guess most people see manual transmissions as a "cheaper alternative" or what have you. I know I'm very particular with what I wanted in this car, and that's why I custom ordered it with exactly what I wanted. I knew there was no chance of anybody having what I wanted in stock.

Also I should point out that I like shifting my own gears as opposed to an auto, so it's really a personal preference, but still, moot point...

I currently have the dealer ordering me the correct car again, and they (obviously) offered me my security deposit back. The did put a rush on it, and we're hoping for a 4 week turnaround.

Hold out for a few months then order the new '15 updated makeover Focus with the manual. They will be six speeds instead of five.

This is correct, only the 1.0 L EcoBoost fuel economy package will get the 6 speed, the 2.0 L GDI engine retains the carry over transaxles, the DCT and the MTX-75 5 speed manual are your only choice on the 2.0 L GDI.

Only other MK3-MK3.5 with a 6MT in North America is the ST

No one knows because no one outside of Ford has tried, although it was rumored that the dual mass fly wheel was the same part between the N/A and the ST, although short of taking things apart we won't know for sure.

The ST has a 6 speed manual?
I've heard rumors that it also has 18" wheels.
