larger throttle body should not put you in sm, as far as I can tell by the rule book you can run in FSP ...F street prepared. be happy your not me, I'll be in SM for my cams...uuuug! but oh well, we just have to drive faster have fun, I love scca!!!!!

They probably will let you run in the most appropriate class, especially if you're relatively new (don't know, just assuming). Unless you are clearly faster than the rest of your class, at the regional level it's not really all that strict.

I say just run STS. A bored out throttle body usually looks OEM, and really doesn't do anything in terms of power on a near-stock engine. Yes, while its technically illeagal, no one will notice or care.

There's a guy in my class who runs a golf convertible. He's got mild cams, but is up to par with the rest of the class. I no his car shouldn't be running FSP, but to be honest, I could care less. It's not like that gives him a serious advantage.

As for the actual rules, here is what is says for FSP or Street Prepared:

15.10 C: Induction allowances are as follows:
1. Carburetors, fuel injection, and intake manifolds are unrestricted. Atlernate throttle linkage and connections to facilitate installation of allowed induction systems are permitted, but may serve no other purpose. If an induction system item is allowed to be removed and its original mounting bracket can be removed by simply unbolting it, the bracket may be removed as well.

Also section D states:
Air cleaner(s) may be changed or removed, velocity stacks may be added.

So there you go, you are in the right class. It isn't that hard a class though, due to the severe limits on the motor modifications. You'll be spending most of your time just getting the car to handle correctly. But you are in the right class, i was bumped into FSP thanks to the removal of my steering wheel, so there you go. Eventhough it doesn't make you faster, it does affect who you race against.

Michael Delaney: Lotta people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well. When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.
