Is Torsen interested in the Getrag?

Check out this link:

http://www.grmotorsports.com/minicoopers.html

Scroll down to the picture of the guy holding the differential and read the caption underneath. Looks like Torsen is testing a differential for the Getrag in Mini Cooper S and the Focus SVT. I love my Quaife but it would be nice if they had a competitor making a diff for our cars. Might save some of us some money....

Nice find, Liltrbo.
Dang.
Make note to self....Subscribe to GRMS.
I've gotten two free trial issues, since I'm a member of SCCA,
but I keep hesitating to spend the money on a subscription.

Curiously though,

Torsen is shopping the piece to MINI aftermarket distributors and Ford for production.
Hmmmm. Ford...production???
Maybe it'll end up in the FRPP catalogue.

I love that magazine and I only autocross once or twice a year. No bling, no $50K dollar trailer queens, just real cars.

Ford has some dealings with Torsen. My 04 Ranger came from the factory with a Torsen rear differential.

Seeing as how the last mention of the Torsen was almost a year ago, and that the SVT is out of production, I doubt it's gonna happen unless the Cooper S drivers demand it. I do like the pics though, you can really see the dual layshafts in the getrag tranny that lets it be so small. How much are people paying for the Quaife install anyway? I have a Quaife on order for my Evo and it looks like installation will run around $300.

I overlooked that date. Kinda doubt Torsen is going to do anything if they haven't by now.

I'm not sure what the price for a Quaife install is. I have had it done on a couple of cars but it was always along with clutch/flywheel which really jacked up the price. If I remember right installing it into the tranny was $75, but pulling the transmission to do that was $300. I would expect it to be more for an EVO.

dang, i would love to have a torsen instead of the quaife... also it would drive both LSD down in price which would only benifit us. anyways about the cost of the install.... was that 375 for the cluth flywheel and LSD all together? if so, 375 isn't to bad of a price!

Ya know, Getrag is testing a new version of our tranny for the Mini and it's AWD. It looks like it may go into production as early as 2006. That would mean potential for an AWD conversion for the SVTF without having to switch back to the MTX-75.
