Did Your Focus MK3 Make you a Car Nut

I've always been a "car nut" i.e. car enthusiast; from my first sports car; a screaming red 1968 Fiat 124 sport coupe, but I am now even more obsessed. My 2012 Ford Focus has brought me closer to my ideal; an economy car that feels like I'm driving a premium upscale car.
I bought it with 39k on the odometer; I've now had it for six months and after adjusting to the DCT and getting it re-programmed I can say 99.5 percent of the time I love this car. 46k and no issues.
I spend a lot of time detailing, polishing and adoring this car. I think it's exterior aesthetic blend of athletic aggression and elegant beauty will stand the test of time unlike most of it's competitors. It is simply beautiful to look at. Can't say that about most cars.

OP - yes, without question. Previous cars were a GTI and TT, neither of which managed to entrance me like the Mk3 Focus. I certainly didn't join any GTI or TT forums!

Always been into cars, treated my 02 explorer like it was a ferrari lmao. That car was polished to perfection, looked better than just about any other car on the road. I also poured tons of money and time into it and was proud of how it looked. The focus took it to the next level really. The explorer was limited to what mods were available, there's a lot more available for the focus and my wallet is already feeling it. At the end of the day I love a nice clean car and can respect anyone who feels the same way.

Couldn't agree more. I had a 2007 Ford Focus previously and loved it, went to trade it in for a new focus a couple years ago and wound up in a Mini Cooper S. Drove that for two years and although it was fun to drive i never felt that love for it that i did with my Focus. So one week ago i finaly bought a new 2014 focus SE and i'm so glad i did. I love this car. it's so much cheaper to mod then the mini and i although it doesnt handle as good, i love driving my Focus way more. I definitley love my car and look forward to many many years with it.

I've always been a car nut; according to my parents "Car" was my first word- I kid you not. The story goes that when I was a baby my dad would have me on his lap while he watched baseball on the TV. Now we all know that sports and car commercials go together like beer salted peanuts so I guess my choice of vocabulary wasn't all that surprising.

I also learned to drive with a Mazda 3 so that might have helped a bit. It was an automatic, but a friend recently showed me to drive stick on his Honda Fit. Fun little thing, and faster than I was expecting, but I just can't get past how ugly it is- the newer one even more so.

Actually I happen to like the look and design of the wheel covers on my car better than a lot of custom wheels I've seen. Not saying I'll never get custom wheels but at this point I'm not motivated to do so.

I've grown up with cars, in shops and at race tracks, but this is the first car I've ever bought brand new for myself. It has given me a whole new obsession and I've begun to love thinking about my car more than ever before. So yes, I've gone a bit nutty beyond my already regular interest in cars. :D

Far from it. I went from a G35 to this. I do like the focus, but as soon as I have it paid down enough to be reasonable I'm going back to something with a proper drivetrain. This FWD stuff is for the birds. I drive 6 miles to work nowadays, I don't need something good on gas. Can't forget how much less you can do to something this computerized compared to the older things too.
