Gran Turismo 4 - cars that are blatantly missing

PLEASE POST YOUR PICKS FOR CARS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN GT4 BUT WEREN'T.

I was playing Gran Turismo 4 yesterday, pretty much all day, and I have to say I would gladly give up half the cars in the game for more American cars. My number one concern was the chevy line, which was lacking seriously overall. Then came Ford. Not one of the Foci in the game is available retail in the U.S. Ain't that some s**t?

So here's my picks:
'57 Chevy (I hate it, but if you've got a model T, you've got to have this too)
'05 Chevy Cobalt SS Supercharged
'04 Chevy Monte Carlo SS Intimidator
'90 Chevy Berreta Indy Pace Car 3.4

'04 Ford Focus SVT
'04 Ford Focus ZX3
'04 Ford Thunderbird
'05 Ford Five-Hundred

'69 Dodge Dart GTS
'74 Dodge Dart Swinger
'05 Dodge Magnum
'06 Dodge Charger Concept

'91 Eagle Talon AWD Turbo (that's just because they included the ugly '97)

'03.5 Mazdaspeed Protege

'05 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V

'05 Pontiac Bonneville GXP
'05 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

'86 Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-Apex

'44 Kuebelwagon

they do have the Focus SVT (basically), it's just under the European ST170 guise. Hell, it's even modeled with the HID headlights... I was surprised that they put the RS version in! I do agree though, some of their choices for cars are a bit odd. Oh well, it's still the best racing game out there in my opinion.

I will totally agree that it is the best racer. The control almost requires a Driving Force wheel, but I've seen worse. The thing about GT is that it really accurately portrays automotive history. It would be nice to see a GT with nothing but historic cars from all the world dropped into a scenario that really shows historically what is fascinating about each car . That way they could focus on that historic aspect during development and not have to worry so much about cars that just go fast and race.

yeah my friend said he noticed the same thing. my PS2 is out of comission (wouldn't turn on one day, Sony wants 80 to fix it plus S&H) so i'm thinking of hitting up the local eb tonight and buying a used system and GT4, i've heard the reviews for it though have been outstanding.

I think they consider the Euro Fords American cars because the company itself is headquartered in the United States. That's my guess anyway, but I thought that was odd too.

There's a crapload of useless and weird Japanese cars because the game is made in Japan, I'm sure to the Japanese player more of those cars have a meaning to them that they don't to us.

As a former Plymouth owner, the Plymouth muscle cars were woefully under-represented (one, count it, one car) and of course there was a Saleen S7 but no Saleen Mustangs... Merkur XR4Ti would have been cool... obviously there are no Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Porsche cars... no more "original" Mini Cooper... they have all those stupid variations of the VW Lupo but no VW Corrado.

I guess you have to draw the line somewhere or they'd have to have separate DVD's that you had to switch disks in order to load more cars.

I would agree with the idea that the Focus RS is probably considered American because of it's brand, but you will notice in the game there is also a handful of both Ford and GM-related products in Australia, although they sort of "pull an Acura" and change the brand name.
