What is everyone's take on replacement halogen bulbs?

What do you guys think are the best bang for the buck? Reading some on it, I see that many say they make the light whiter, but not necessarily brighter/more throw down the road (CR testing said that). I see the brands:

PIAA
Hella
GE
Sylvania
Osram
Phillips
Putco
Vision X

Not interested in the racer-boy blue lights or any full-HID replacements etc., just some replacement bulbs that are a bit brighter than what I have. I drive a lot at night during the winter, sometimes on country backroads.

Any comments/suggestions?

Thanks,

I have a set of Phillips crystalvision H11's on my car. They were really bright and great looking when they were new, now they're even dimmer than the stock bulbs were and it's only been about a year. I've been meaning to get a new set but like you, I'm not sure where to go with it.

If you don't mind the short life they are good bulbs though.

Unless you go from an H11 to H9 bulb, you won't see any appreciable difference, and bulb life with super bright H11 bulbs is abysmal. The H9s still don't last as long, either...but it's better then the "ultra power" H11 stuff.

Even my H9 bulbs have nothing on my HID projectors.

I've used PIAA Xtreme White lamps in previous cars with good results. They're slightly brighter / whiter than stock (~4200K as I recall). I used them since they were a closer match (than the OEM lamps) to the HID headlights on a few previous cars.

I've had the osrams in now for 3 years and they're fine. I previously had PIAAs in my other focus for 6 years and they were good, as well, but i didn't care for the slightly bluish cast they threw. The osrams are very white w/o the blue tint. The are def brighter then the stock bulbs and so far i'm pleased.

Phillips Xtreme Vision or Osram Night Breaker Unlimited.

I've had the Phillips in my car for over a year, no issues.

I'm actually running some yellow bulbs (yellow coating) and they work fantastic, especially in the rain. These are the one's I got, $20 for the pair.

Just ordered a set of Osram Nightbreaker unlimited's from Amazon. A little pricey at $60 shipped but they should be nice. Headlights are one thing I don't mind paying a premium for- you can't put a price on safety. I could have saved the $30 and bought another identical set of Phillips, but I haven't been happy with how fast they've faded out. I thought about the extreme visions instead of my current crystal's, but they don't make them in H11 size. The ones on Ebay and Amazon appear to be fakes.

From Phillip's website:
"X-tremeVision bulbs are available in:
9003, 9006, 9007, 9008/H13, H7"

Not sure how you are running them on your car, are you using non-stock size bulbs?
