audiophile 9006 eats cds
help guys! my audiophile 9006 eats cds! by eats i mean the loading trays are junk, seem to atsck one disc on top of another, the unit doesn't read disks in the trays sometimes, and other times it seems to read phantom discs that aren't really there.
help! any recalls on this unit? if not, aftermarket units ya'll like that aren't too much$? i don't need anything exotic. thanks guys... |

this is a somewhat common occurance with the 6006 and 9006 in dash 6 cd changer head units. try a search on "6006 jam" and then "6006 problem". Everyone has there own opinions and advice so it's easiest to do the search.

the first cd i loaded into mine same issue
i poked a shit load of buttons for like 5 mins and eventually got it to work, i told it to load a cd into a blank slot then i went to pretend and unload the tray 1 then it worked just fine.. you can always RTFM but i didnt do that so i just poked a lot of shit - i hate this deck and the sony speakers, i am just allowing it to exist untill i remove it- so the stress wasnt high since its gonna get pulled. |

Personally, I liked the 9006 audiophile system I had in my '03. I never had a problem with it, and it sounded good. The '05 sony audiophile system on the other hand... SUCKS!! God how I hate sony. I am thinking of retrofitting the 9006 unit into my car. I have a machinist freind who can make anything, and maybe mount the the 9006 unit into my 2005. A little off topic.. but I would like to make the surround of the radio brushed aluminum instead of the ugly fake carbon fiber look.

I have a question, are you putting disc's in that you made your self and put labels on? I work for the company that repairs all Ford radios including those and it seems the most comon problem is people putting in disc's that have paper labels on them and it screws up the mechanism because there isn't much room in between the disc's in there. Are you out of warranty? If not, take it to the dealer and have it replaced. I have had no trouble with mine so far, I don't play CD's with labels in it. Anyway, just though I would share that info.
