Base model blues- upgrade to folding rear seat?

Hello to all, virgin Fanatic here.

I just bought a stripper 2009 Focus 4 door, 5 speed. I am kind of amazed at the lengths Ford went to to cheap-out on this car. I found this forum when I learned how easy it is to add cruise control- just buy the steering wheel with the cruise buttons, and have the dealer reprogram the computer- and suddenly you have cruise! Of course that means that all Ford had to do was provide the buttons, costing them maybe $3 per car, and they could have made cruise standard. Amazing...

ON TO MY QUESTION: The same kind of situation exists with my back seat. When I was looking over the car, I saw that the back seat was split, and it has hinges at the bottom of the seat back for folding them down. So I searched all over for the release buttons, only to find that it looks like the top of the seat is screwed to the opening.

Now, I suppose, since I didn't get an owner's manual, maybe I just haven't found the release. But I looked pretty hard...

Has anyone managed to retrofit their back seat using the factory parts? I would normally go to my local pick-a part boneyard, but they don't have any this new. I'm just not sure how complicated the factory set-up is, how it works, where the release is, etc.

If not, maybe I can just put wing nuts on the screws... not as quick as a release lever or button, but functional!

Thanks!!

The release is a pull that is right where the back of the seat meets the 60/40. Then the other pull is right at the back over by the rear drivers side door on the seat back cushion.

Ah-HA!! I just thought I did a thorough search! There they were...

They are kind of small, but yeah, that's on me!

I take back (some of) the aspersions I cast upon Ford Motor Company...

Thanks very much for your help!!

So if I buy a steering wheel with buttons for cruise, I can just bring it to ford and it's easy enough for them to add in cruise control?

Yes. I understand all you have to do is swap out the steering wheel for one with cruise and then have Ford "turn on" cruise in the computer. I also understand that some dealers might not do this or don't know how. Call ahead and around to see how much and if they are willing to do it.

Good luck.
