Weird, do you know what brand the Remote Start is?
Only thing I could think, it is a cheap unit and just doesn't work in extreme cold. maybe

Battery is brand new.....also there's a little plunger thing under the dash....the guy I bought the car from said it has something to do with the alarm I believe.......well the odd time when you go to start the car it won't start....not even turn over.....I reach down and push the plunger and it then turns over and start's

Angry Compustar Remote Starter

I'm having similar issues with my remote start. i ordered a Compustar kit for my car and the first couple of days it worked fine then it just stopped working and now it works when it wants to work but lately i haven't been able to start my car or unlock my doors only thing that happens is the lights flash but thats about it.

The Ford remote start systems are made by Code Alarm. Try giving them a call. They do help with diagnostics.
