If you have ever found a small puddle under the front/ center of your SVT -

Check here:

Look closely and you can see the drip at about 6 o'clock on the sensor. It goes towards the head and straight down.

What I found, was the coolant temp sensor is actually sitting in a stripped out bung. I have never touched it, and I dont know if Ford ever did. I do know that my car has had a tiny residual leak since my clutch TSB. I dont know if it was over tightened (well, yeah, it was, it wont snug at all).

So I either need to get my car in before my 36K is up (~400 to go) or buy a new "waterneck" (?) and do it myself....

Check your cars...

NOTE: I cant tell if it threads in or not...I now found a C-Clip at the base of the bung...

I'm going to throw my OEM stuff on and take a trip to Ford...

This is a pretty common problem, unfortunately. I think you right, it doesn't thread in. Been a while since I changed my thermo, but I believe it was just clipped in with an o-ring seal.

I bet I have no O-RIng...its just there and a clip holding it...it almost appears to be leaking around the clip, and not at the very top...

Does anyone have a schematic of the thermo housing assembly..like an exploded veiw of each part??

I had one, but its gone. Call up Ford tomorrow and have them fax you the sheet. I honestly can't remember how it mounts, but I'm pretty sure it has at least one o-ring.

are you pointing to your coolant pump?i had this problem a couple of weeks ago with radiator fluid leaking from a small silver protrusion (called the weeper valve) from the coolant pump.i read it is caused by bad seals inside of your pump.all i did was buy some of the Bar's Leak stuff and poured it in my coolant reservoir.I have pics too, if you want to see them.
