that has to be the most unclean lookign exhaust you can get for a focus. the mbrp dosent sound raspy int he leat bit very deep alot cheapr and a hell of alot cleaner lookign than that fart can hanging form the back

The problem isn't just the design (looks) it's the material, piping diameter. I won't continue on with this, just refer to the HKS thread (using the SEARCH button) and find the one I closed down, it explains EVERYTHING.

im happy with my hks. when mated with a race header, its the best exhuast ive heard *tone/sound* (ive heard basically them all) its not ricey or raspy at all. Doesnt sound like a import at all. As for the people who are complaining about piping size. I dunno about you but it dyno's up with the other catbacks out there. quality is top notch. for it going under the rear axle, i've had no problem with scraping it and im dumped at least 3 inches all around. for looks, to each their own. you can knock on that if you wish but as for performance and scraping issues, do your research before you knock on a good exhaust.

i think the major concerns (dislikes) fall under two catagories:

aesthetics:
*The exhaust does not look like it is designed for the focus--it doesn't even look like it fits
*not only does the whole muffler sit cockeyed and exposed, the exhaust tip is big enough to fist

function:
*The exhaust sits lower than others...some claim scraping, others say it's not a problem
*Being a smaller diameter tubing, you can't even have the possibility of FI in the future
*HKS, even though more expensive than (SS) Borla, is made of the same material as the cheapest of catback systems and will rust eventually

Oh yeah,

and everytime I look at an HKS exhaust, I expect a midget dressed in a red/white/blue jumpsuit and a helmet to come shooting out in a plume of smoke, perform a series of mid-air somersaults, and land in the middle of the road with a "SuperStar" pose

Well seeing as how they can produce just as much power with a smaller diameter I think they know what they're doing. I'm pretty sure the diameter is bigger on the SVT. As far as it only being for only imports, a four cylinder is a four cylinder. When I think Borla, or Flowmaster, I think eight cylinder cars and trucks, not a Focus. Also, I've yet to see an aftermarket SVT exhaust with a bigger dyno proven gain than the HKS.

dyno results

no doubt about it.. put the dyno results up.. i to feel the hks is an import exhaust, but you must also consider they do make a great product and this might open up to more aftermarket companies looking to manufacture more products for the focus. just my 2cents

personally i'd rather have those idiots that think a CRX with a GSR motor is the end all of fast keep seeing my tail lights and then sputtering excuses than have more of them appreciate the focus

I really loke both exhausts (Borla and HKS). I like the way the Borla sounds, but I like the way the HKS looks. The 2 things holding me back from buying the HKS is the diameter and the fact that I am no longer a 16-20 year old BOY. I am a professional and with that I have to project that image in everything that I do OR drive.

I want the HKS but my better judgement tells me to go with the Borla.
