ST Headlight Cost

Hi Everyone, Newbie here - 2013 Focus ST, Black. I had the unfortunate very small fender bender that cracked the front bumper and broke a mounting piece on the headlight. Took it to the body shop to get it all checked out. There was some hidden damage and the total bill came to $6k less my deductible. What shocked the heck out of me was the cost of the left headlight - $1821.00 - yep, one thousand eight hundred twenty one! The old light was fine except for the plastic mounting tab! Yikes!

Surprised Ford doesn't have a tab repair kit out yet. The HIDs are EXPENSIVE

A friend of mine had his Lexus hit last year and one headlight was $4000.

It could be worse.

I recently had the recall done to my 2013 ST HID headlights, which apparently involved altering the wiring harness to route power to the little Side Marker Lamps in the headlight cluster. However, after doing the work the dealer found one still wasn't working, and they told me they had to put in a new headlight, at a cost of almost $2000, matching what you discovered, Toolman.

Wish the car had LED lights instead of HID. Cheaper, just as bright, and they last longer. I had a couple of Priuses, one 2007 with HID and one 2010 with LED, and they were functionally identical.

Yea, I was looking into getting ST3 HIDs, and the cost is quite ridiculous. Settled for some aftermarket ones, and hope they will last. If not, perhaps some cool LED-based projectors will come out in the future now that LED seems to be the new thing for headlights.
