So earlier this week i ordered the Energy Suspension Poly DogBone inserts. Got them in the mail yesterday and I'm not going to lie after reading all of the posts on here about how these cause horrible sometimes intolerable vibration, i was somewhat skeptical about installing them today. Although, i couldn't keep myself from doing it. I'm over all that slop in the drivetrain and wanted to see what the fuss is all about. (performance+comfort wise) When first removing the bolt for the big bushing the head snapped off of the bolt leaving it inside the bushing. The bolt in the small bushing came out just fine. So after using a torch and air hammer the bolt was extracted and on came the "easy" part. Now that the mount is off getting the old bushings out was somewhat easy, the big one came out with just a few hits with a hammer and the small took a little more finessing to get out but it popped out without too much hesitation. The ES bushings seem like very well made pieces when in hand. The new pieces were very easy to install into the mount, again just a few hits with the hammer and they were in! Easy as that, I did it on a lift so there was a lot of room allowing ease of access, I'd say if the bolts were to come out easy with no breakage like mine, and you had access to a lift you could do it in under 30 minutes if you don't run into the slight problems i did. That's the 189K showing its wear and tear Unfortunately i didnt take any pictures of the process (sorry) Once it was all done It was the moment of truth! I was a little nervous for the first start wondering how bad the vibrations would be,to my surprise i started it up and literally NO more vibration was noticeable at idle. The only time there is vibration is when you take off in first gear at about 1,200-1,300 or so RPM. Let me tell you the car feels COMPLETELY different. on takeoff, shifts, downshifts as well as when you are cruising and let off the gas or give it some, no more hard engine movements or anything at all, This is all on a car with almost 200k miles with two other motor mounts that have never been replaced and which i imagine have lost all of their hydraulic fluid and are pretty well shot. I'm amazed with the quality of this product and the way it performs, All for 25 dollars shipped! Such an awesome low cost mod that is pretty simple to install. I couldn't be happier.
Now since the car is feeling good and it was a beautiful winter day here in Michigan I thought i'd snap a few pictures to share (Sorry about the Iphone quality)
