Airbag Control Module

Is the airbag control module still functional after the airbags have been deployed? I was at the junkyard the other day and snatched one from a wrecked ZX4. I've heard that replacement modules have to be scanned by Ford after installation, and I don't want to pay them if this module is no good anyway. Thanks!

Toby

Ya think folks would be replacing "used" ones if it was that easy?

One time use AFAIK.

And you're referring to the control module, not the airbag modules in the steering column and above the glove box?

Yes, I was referring to the control module.

I probably should avoid trying to make a reply sound humorous, seldom works well.

Whenever I've heard of an airbag/belt tensioner deployment repair here, the control unit also needed replacement. It's been explained as "hard written" crash data that can't be erased, can't confirm that but it seems reasonable.

Well, I guess that was the best five bucks I ever spent. Thanks for the tip.
