Engine Upgrades less than $500 that are good for the Focus ST

Getting ideas from people who have any ideas on good mods that work well and arent a money pit. Want the engine to last for many miles and not have any problems. I am not flashing the ecu or anything to void the warranty on my new '14 ford focus st.

If there is a way to tune the engine to get 2o-30hp more without flashing the ecu with the chips / computers you see on lots of sites. Im not into that kind of tuning , just basic plug and play tuning that i can do by my self.

well i know for the regular focus, adding the k&n filter and removing the snorkel will help it feel a bit more peppy and also sounds good too if you leave the airbox cover off.

look at the snorkel delete thread! its on a stickied thread

I got a KN filter on order and need the open filter cover that comes with most cold air kits. Personally upgraded cold air kits are a waste of money . just stick with KN filter and that will do the trick

Moved to ST EcoBoost Performance (2013). You will likely get a better response to your inquiry here as it is specific to the 2013 Focus ST and the performance modifications of the car.

There is no snorkel as such, just a carefully designed velocity stack, which can be replaced with a Ford Racing CAI snorkel that funnels air into the intake from the front grille.

You won't be able to make more power since the ECU limits power with torque targeting. You can do all the bolt-ons you want, but you'll only make more efficient power with less boost needed. With that said:

Rear motor mount
Intake
Intercooler

That will give you more consistent power, but same power numbers overall. If you're concerned about warranty, look at the FRPP tune. If you aren't, I'm very satisfied with my FSWerks tune on the Cobb AP.
