Hard start '07 zx4 pzev

Intermittently my focus will take a long time to turn over, about 5 seconds, before turning over. Happens once every 2 or 3 days and not necessarily when cold. Ive also noticed occasionally it will start too soon and almost stall itself. Went to 2 auto shops that could only guess its the fuel pump. Anyone had the same problem? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

the "long crank" issue is common, no known cure that I am aware of. Mine started at 70k miles, and only when the engine is cold.

I have the problem. Replaced fuel filter, spark plugs and battery and still not fixed. I'm tempted to replace the coil pack but waiting on timing belt to be replaced first.

@OP

Do not let GangGreen3 mislead or confuse you.

Your Duratec engine does not have a coil pack, it has coil on plugs (COP's). Your engine does not have an external timing belt, it has a timing chain inside engine and rarely/never gets replaced.

Tx for tryin' to help, "which engine" can SOMETIMES be guessed from Model/year & location - not always even with that info..
