My 2012 SE System - Pics/vid page 2

The past 5-6 cars I've owned I've done the installs myself, but I honestly am tired of doing it and I will be having a shop (Advanced Car Creations) install everything. The install will take place this Friday (2-14-14) and it's going to kill me having to sit here and wait till then.

So here is what I am throwing into the car:

1) Metra Dash Kit

2) Alpine CDE-143BT Receiver - Bluetooth, Front USB, 50x4, and 2 outs.

3) Alpine Type R Speakers - SPR60

4) Alpine MRP-F300 - V-Power Series 4-channel car amplifier 50 watts RMS x 4

5) Alpine MRP-M500 - Mono subwoofer amplifier 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms

6) JL Audio 10W3v3-2 W3v3 Series 10" 2-ohm subwoofer

7) Un-Ported 10" subwoofer box - Which they will make this week. Probably something slim (i hope) ha.

I will post pics and video once it's said and done. Thanks for looking.

Adam

I had a all kenwood setup that was great but my HU finally craped out so I got a pioneer HU now, still sounds amazing! I needz lots of equilizer adjustments! Im a audio junky!

Nice. Let us know how it goes.

I didn't like the fact that almost all of the new cars needed an expensive mounting kit and/or or bypass kit. I was used to soldering up a straight-through harness and using a $10 Metra kit to have a stereo installed in an afternoon. But those days are gone it seems.

One of the reasons I chose the Focus was the Sync system is pretty good, but I've only had the car a month and I'm already missing the Kenwood + Pioneer system that was in my Cutlass. I've been installing my own gear since 1996 and it just seems so weird using a factory stereo.

molest, haha. Nice. Kenwood makes a good product, I've had home audio towers forever from them and they still work till this day. Don't know what happened, but yea, for $200 labor (Total) to install with 2-3 guys, versus me taking 8+ hours by myself (im a neat freak) I'd rather pay the $200 ha.

You shoulda seen George's face when he had to tell me how much the metra kit was, he pulled a as if I wasn't going to buy it. (Cost me $130) I just shrugged and said, "Yea, that's about what they go for." He had no idea.

I usually don't bother with Sync stuff because I know i am just going to tear it all out eventually for a new system, and I don't bother with NAVI and things either.

Did you end up using the Sync and just upgrading your speakers?

Still rocking the stockers unfortunately. I work so much that I simply don't have a reasonable amount of time to pop a door panel and drop in some speakers, even if the temperature wasn't in the teens to single digits every day! Heck, with as much as I work, even dropping it off for an install isn't realistic since I need the car to get to work.

As the car is so new, the stock speakers are still pretty fresh, but as we all know a paper and foam stock speaker starts to break down pretty fast, whether it gets eaten by moisture in a door or falls apart from UV in the rear deck or dash.

I'll probably keep Sync and just upgrade the speakers whenever I have a spare moment, and I might even add a small sub at some point although I know speaker level out is terrible.

I seem to remember reading that Kenwood and maybe a few others sold a system that worked with Sync rather than replacing it. Might look into that at some point instead.

Just got off the phone with the audio shop, he quoted me $200 to DYNAMAT the four doors and rear hatch with two sheets each door. I thought that was pretty damn good seeing 1 box would run me $130 shipped. He said the price would change (not much) depending how many holes are in the doors.

Can anyone tell me if there are any HUGE holes in our 12+ doors? I've already forgotten since I put the Type R's in.
