I don't see much wrong with light to light racing, except that it's brutal on the car. Light turns green, you go for all of 5 or 6 seconds, then you brake and start all over again. You don't end up going fast enough to lose control of the car.

I think a lot of the criticism is coming on behalf of organized races.. not impromptu traffic light run-ins.

Street racing is for people who think they have some mad skills behind the wheel when in all reality couldn't showcase good driving skills if they were paid to do it. I've seen so many people who "thought" they were good drivers look like fools on autox courses and real road racing courses. On the pyramid of drivers street racers stand alone at the bottom...thinking they're bad sh!t because they timed a light better than the guy in the Civic lx with the big fartpipe.

Take it to the track and learn how to really drive your car...then post about your stories here.

Your death is not an issue. Like playing with guns or drinking and driving, others don't care if those people hurt themselves. They're a victimless crime. But it's the innocent victims that those idiots hurt that other people really sympathize with.

racing

i am going through my usual winter no racing withdrawal. next event wont be til feb. probably. this doesnt mean i would be irresponsible enough to banzai back roads. even with 33 years of road racing experience, decent car control and a full cage to protect me. as many here have said, s happens and too often it is the innocents who suffer. i live in a very rual area and still we have suffered a number of street racing related deaths here. in the latest an elderly couple was killed by draggers as they were homeward bound last month. the idiot who hit them head on was doubly ignorant. he was dragging and drinking. of course he survived.
