Cam question

I was going to go with a vortech SC as my next mod but due to my companies decline in sales and possible failure, ive decided to only spend roughly $900.00 instead. I would like a decent gain and I still need a Throttle Body. I was thinking about going with stage 2 cams then perhaps some cam gears.

My question is, would stage 2 cams be a good addition without the gears? Will the cams install easily without any modification? I am basicly looking for a decent gain for a good price.

Oh, and does a rear engine mount make a good difference in power delivery and gear engagement?

Thanks.

crower stg 2's go in without modification, but you should get the gears and get it tuned while you're at it cause it will run like crap if you just throw it in without any sort of tuning. as for the rear motor mount, it's a great investment, I have energy suspension inserts and they are great, but I'll probably get a vf mount or mac snubber later on.

my car doesnt run like crap.......i dont have cam gears installed.......i was informed that gears would only help you if your cams werent installed properly...as in they are off of optimum a degree or two.....if you have a good mechanic install them the gears might not net you any gains.....

Was there a good difference in performance after adding your cams?
How did it cost any of you to have your cams/.gears tuned?

A. Get the cams and cam gears
B. Get it tuned
C. Yes, the VF rear engine mount helps in power delivery and gear engagement. You
will get moderate vibration but nothing you won't get used to after a while.
