Unhappy Paint Chipping...

So MD has gotten hit a couple times by these snow storms, not horribly, but pretty bad. Anyways I was washing the salt off of my car and I found that the hood had five spots where the paint was chipped pretty far down . I don't know a lot about paint but I can say it chipped through the blue down to white. I've had this car since December, I got it used and it had none of these chips in it. I really don't know what I can do to fix these spots. My plan even though I don't like the look too much is to put some vinyl down the middle of the car to cover most of these spots since they are in the same area. I figured it would look better than having chipped paint all over the hood...Anyways if anyone could shed some light as to how this can happen and any other way to fix it than just covering it, I'm all ears.

At this point, you can either get it re-sprayed & then cover it with 3M paint protection film, or have the chips professionally touched up. I know it can be done when you have the right tools, but I suck with touch-up paint.

Not all paint shops but most should. I kno here in ct napa sells touch up custom mixed also a lot of the paint stores like Sherwin Williams automotive. DuPont. Ppg. Those are some lines to look at. Try and find a suplier store that sells those paints and I'm sure they can mix touch up. If u run into too much of a problem let me kno and I can mix some touch up at work and mail it.

You mention a vinyl wrap= Do a faux c/f wrap on your hood using 3M's 1080 series wrap.

You mind maybe explaining that a little more? I looked on google and saw what it looks like, at least I think that is what I saw, but I would like to know estimates of how much this might cost, and the installation process. Could I do it myself or would it be smarter to get a specialty shop to install it?

I looked on dr. colorchip and that seems like the way I will be going since I have a lot of tiny chips everywhere and the reviews seem really good. I know it won't "fill in" the chip but these aren't super deep so I feel like if I paint them they will not be noticeable. Or maybe a couple coats will fill them in.

As for the vinyl idea, I'm sort of warming up to the idea but I wouldn't want to get something that looks ridiculous. I've stopped going to friends and family for ideas on any of this because I'm tired of being told everything I want to do to my car will look stupid lol. Finally learning to not car what others think about my car.

All that aside thanks for all the suggestions and tips guys.
