Lightbulb Aftermarket Altenators

Looking into getting an aftermarket altenator for my 2k ZX3.

Has anyone dealt with Mechman in Ca. for an altenator?

Stinger? iraggi?

Stinger says they have one for my app. Have to visit retailer. Will do that Saturday...

Iraggi, well I am not pushin 10kw.... So I don't think I need anything that fancy. (nor expensive)

Mechman has one direct bolt on, 175 Hot rated amps $535, $35 harness, $30 shipping.

Of course, I am upgrading my alt. to bat. cable , ground, and batery termnals. 1/0 wire, 4ga to amps (1kw) Wiring upgrades and terminals $150. (anything is better than that crappy 8ga. from the factory)

I already have an Optima red top.

Now, I listen to my stereo, albeit not WFO, but moderate levels for a 55mi drive to work and ditto home each day. I am concerned with overcharging....

The Factory alt I hear is 110 amp. but it also cycles when the battery is charged. This cycling is affecting my dashlights and headlights EVEN with no stereo on.... I have been told that it is the "diode cycle" from when the battery is fully charged.

Do these aftermarket alt's do the same cycling? If not, what keeps the battery from overcharging.......

Input and information is appreciated....

Chris

not sure if this helps but it's the most i can do because i don't have expierence with aftermarket alternators. also, if you haven't already, do a search because i know this has been discussed a couple times in the last year.
