There isn't a way to reset it from the system status menu. I have already tried that!

I'm telling you get a new battery. I've known a number of people to buy these without a full charge or defective. Expiration/shelf life doesn't always mean it's a good battery.

The batteries that were installed were fresh 10-year expiration date batteries, so I'm not concerned that they were past their shelf life. Both FOBs give me the same message. Disconnecting the battery seems like a slipshod way to accomplish something, in my opinion.
I believe it took about 1 week.
At first, I was scratching my head but I decided to give it some time and see what happens.
I imagine that there may be a way to reset it (other than disconnecting the battery) but I didn't bother to research it.

Please read my previous reply.

I really don't like resetting all of the modules (especially the PCM) unless there is a compelling reason to do so.

Another alternative would be to pull the fuse for the module that needs resetting (i.e. MFT/Sync reset).

Pulling fuses didn't seem to work on my car for resetting the MFT, it would remove power from the affected sub-system and possibly cause it to reboot, however apart from one time when it seemed to forget the drive it was still not reset and went right back to the previous track after the crash. The fix then was to take a different USB drive when the original one that worked fine in the car with the basic sync system failed to index and caused MFT to go into a seizure/ reboot loop every time it was used.

Just copy and pasted the files onto a clean drive and it worked, some how the original one went bad even though the drive was fine.

I don't really like the idea of pulling the battery either, but that was something that works, and speeds up the process at the expense of potentially losing some of the keep alive memory for other systems you'd prefer not to reset.

Hey, everyone!

I just want to jump in real quick with a few things. I do not recommend a battery pull (on your vehicle) unless it is advised or done by your dealer. Also SYNC/MFT is not tied in to Intelligent Access Key (IAK), so a fuse pull for SYNC is not needed. For questions or issues with IAK, please shoot a private message over to Todd. Here's the link to his profile:

Hope you're all having a great week!

Resetting MFT/Sync was simply used as an example of resetting a module.

It was not stated or implied that Sync and the IAK are somehow tied together.

I had the same problem occur on my 2011 C-Max Titanium last weekend, and after replacing the batteries in the key remote, the error message remained.

I took my car into my local Ford dealer and they ended up having to carry out a BCM software update. This cleared the alarm issue.

If your key fob battery needs changing there is no need to go to the dealer to reset the message on the trip computer.you just use the arrow keys on the steering wheel and navigate to the information menu -->system status and press the ok button to reset.

I was just clarifying for the people that didn't know that, Kabigon.

Same thing happened to me, about a week as well.
