First time driving FWD at the Drag Strip....
Took the SVTF to the strip (1/8), I am a RWD man (see Sig) so I go to Midnight Madness (it's like ricer paradise) ran a string of 10.20's@72mph, I have no idea if that is good or not (awful slow compared to the Stang). Most the rice was running 11.xx's and the turbo (SRT4's) and nitrous cars were running 9.xx's. Can anyone tell me what a 10.20 translates to in the 1/4? And do all FWD cars thump like the motor is coming out of the mounts when you shift at 7000 rpm?

Mine doesnt "thump" when i shift it like that, mine actually shifts pretty smoothly at that rpm

I don't know about the times, however, that "thump" your hearinf is probably the lower rear tranny mount, they are notorious for hitting the underside of the vehicle during hard shifting and most peorple replace them with the VF mount or the Prothane inserts for the factory mount housing .. do a search for Rear Mount and you will find a wealth of info concerning that issue

The NHRA accepted conversion factor is: 1/8mi ET x 1.56 = 1/4mi ET
or 10.20 converts to 15.9. The formula is intended for race cars. If you are having traction problems you would probably run a faster 1/4 than the formula suggest. Its a good ball park though. My fastest ever 1/8 mile time converts to 13.26 using this formula. However, I have run many actual 1/4 runs a tenth or two lower. The best was a 13.09. It isn't too bad of a time, especially for a first time. What was your 60ft? My best 1/8 is a 9.9 something on drag radials and I have killed an SVT at the 1/8. You will probably end up with high 9's with practice. Good luck

they have the midnight madness once a month at the track in montgomery..you should check it out sometime, its free and funny to watch..seriously i see about 2 civics blow their engines goin down the track every time i go..funny stuff...a 15.9 isnt so bad..i see zts run 17.7 with beginners in them..it takes time to master it..time better spent not breaking your car.
