Do you have a baseline Dyno? Or what's the plan? I'm pretty curious, but fear that no restriction is being caused by the TB

Probably not necessary. The ECU will adjust fuel trim as necessary to meet the target air fuel ratio, even at WOT.

My point being that if the OEM throttle meets the demand of the engine, installing a larger one won't do a thing. If you want " better throttle response", that could be done with programming...as in command more throttle opening/pedal travel. I seriously doubt the stock throttle is a limiter, at least on the normally aspirated engine.

I am thinking the same thing. If it was a limiter on our engines then it would gain a lot more then 10 hp on st.

After doing some research I noticed that the regular focus and the st share the same throttle body. So I recently ordered one to test it out. The throttle body should be here Monday and next weekend I hope to do a big parts install weekend.

I will post update once the throttle body arrives.

New larger throttle plate

The N/A focus does use a 57mm TB, same as the st.

After installing and letting the car idel and warm up I took it for a 1mile test run. I noticed I have much better throttle response, better high end pull, feel of torque seems to have not changed. The car overall performs much better. This is definitely a good buy but my only concern is that I will need a new tune. Even though it's not a drastic increase in throttle body size I feel that now the car might be getting to much air and I need to move to a custom tune instead of the injected tune to better monitor airflow and air to fuel ratio.

Overall the car felt pretty solid on power end. It really picks up the power curve at about 37-3800 rpms and pulls hard till redline. I have to set up some dyno time and then I have exact numbers.

Important side note: replace the throttle body gasket when you install new TB. I noticed mine was a bit limp and the rubber o-ring needed to be replaced.
Nice mod. If you have a smart phone you can get the Torque app, then you can watch real time or data log your air fuel ratios to find out how safe your tune is.

From what Aric has said, the injected tune should handle more air fine unless it was a huge change.

Awesome guys. Seriously thank you for being the pilots here. Without guys like you there would be no aftermarket!
